Retro Gaming Advent Calendar – 6th December

December 6th. Moley Christmas ? ZX Spectrum

Nothing is more Spectrum than frustration felt whilst playing Monty Mole games, and this classic is as frustrating as they come. Released in 1987 as a free Christmas giveaway on the front of ‘Your Sinclair’ , it is technically a sequel to the retro classic Auf Wiedersehen Monty.  If you only play one free Christmas themed Spectrum cover tape game this holiday period then this has to be the one.

Whenever Amigos finishes reviewing every Amiga game (ha!) I would love to start a Speccy podcast. So many quirky, unique games.

That's actually really impressive for a Speccy game. The colour clash is hardly detectable and Monty regularly walks behind foreground objects giving an impression of depth, which wasn't all that common back then if I recall correctly.

If you were the first to write in to the mag to tell them what happens in the game's end sequence you won the top 15 Speccy games.

You will never run out of Amiga games John, but to start on the spectrum – you will need a thousand lifetimes to play them all!
