Two classics for the price of one! I had so much fun playing both of these as a kid against one of those human thingies, though I'd say SWIV definitely has the edge if I had to choose between them. I found the extra on-screen real estate makes it easier to get to grips with.

Like you said in the podcast, the chopper and jeep are much more fairly balanced in the sequel so there was less squabbling over who would play as which vehicle.

There's something really satisfying about the lasery-zappy sound the goose boss makes when you land a bullet on target, and it flinches as if it's flesh and blood. The arcade feel is spot on.

Silkworm and SWIV are two of my favorite games on the Amiga for the same reasons. Though I always found the jeep to be crazy tough compared to the helicopter. Basically if the Helicopter dies in co-op you dont have much of a chance to live much longer. At least I don't.

Also interesting you mention people collecting adding machines. Commodores second group of products were adding machines just after typewriters and before they got into calculators. I have two of them in my Commodore collection. So yes some people so still collect them. No display, just simple math and a paper roll to print out. These had no handle and were electric liek the later manual typewriters
