The top 76 most expensive Amiga games sold on eBay *

Have you ever wondered which Amiga games fetch the most moolah at auction, or which developers are the most collectable? I’ve mined the data and the results are in.

The countdown below is a snapshot of what’s happening right now in the realm of Amiga game collecting to give you a rough idea of how much you should expect to pay for the most popular titles. Some of them may even work, but ‘bit rot’ is a topic for another day.

First I must qualify the list with a bit of small print so there’s no misunderstanding…

* My list is based on the top bids placed on auction listings over the last 4 months. It doesn’t include ‘buy it now’ sales because these can skew the perceived level of interest and value. It’s not a definitive list of the most desirable and therefore expensive Amiga games ever, ever, ever, obviously because the really rare ones only show up once in a blue moon, and I can’t rummage back to infinity and beyond.

HOLY EXPLETIVE!!! What a damn fine job, and that is quality, weapons grade, A+ information! Great job! BTW, Giana at number one…who'd a thunk it!

My good good, I've got about £100 sitting in the loft!!! – maybe if the discs have not degraded!!

I thought you might get a kick out of that. 🙂

The Great Giana Sisters sells for a ridiculous price due to its rarity. At the time of release there were rumours that Nintendo had levied a lawsuit at Time Warp Productions in order to remove this copyright infringing game from sale.

It *was* withdrawn, but more likely through strong-arm tactics rather than official legal action.

Anyway, the point is that there are very few remaining copies of the game in circulation these days so it has become a collector's item.

I could never see the appeal of Mario Bros or Giana Sisters myself.

Oo-topos recently sold on amibay for $300 AUD (£177.48). I wonder how much it would have gone for on ebay auction.

Wow, that's an old, obscure title, I missed that one. Crazy stuff!

Yes, Amibay isn't widely known outside of the die-hard Amiga community so maybe eBay would have pushed the price even higher.

It's hard to say if it would have been better for the seller when you factor in 10% commission (which is also deducted from the postage charged) plus Pay Pal fees. Maybe an auction on eBay with a starting price of £1m and a link to Amibay would have helped. 😉
